Furniture Pillows:
This category of pillow satisfies the need for decorative pillows to accent furniture in the home. “Throw–pillows”, couch pillows and bolsters all fall into this category. None of these were designed as sleeping pillows.
Bed Pillows:
Bed pillows are the most common pillows we associate with sleep. However, they are made specifically for beds and come in sizes relative to the bed size; Standard, Queen size, King size and Jumbo. None are designed to fit a body structure or for sleeping.
Therapeutic Pillows:
This market consists of hundreds, if not thousands, of technically innovative products designed to address the need for good bed posture. These manufacturers recognize the problems, but in virtually all cases, fall short in producing a universal product capable of addressing all the needs of a good sleeping pillow.
Most of these products treat only the symptoms of misaligned necks, not the root cause. They cushion the head into a static position thus keeping the problem from healing. Even these in many cases contribute to our poor health.
Sleeping Pillows:
There were no pillows specifically designed for sleeping. None of the pillows addressed the physiological requirements for a good sleep. Most have a big negative affect on our health.

History on the development of pillows:
Did you know the first recorded sleep device (pillow) was recorded in China about 5,000 years ago when an Emperor demanded the perfect sleep? (Britannica) The perfect device was a “block of wood – shaped and padded to the face with a hole for the ear.” You would not call a block of wood a pillow would you? But it fit the definition of a device used for sleeping. Only the rich could afford this product as it had to be adjusted weekly. This device proved that a pillow support is the answer to the perfect sleep.
The common bed pillows can be traced back to the second product designed for the Emperor’s people. A husk filled bag that could give good support but had to be molded several times each night. Both products gave a great sleep on very hard surfaces as everyone, including the Emperor, slept on a wood platform with a thin rattan mat.
Today’s mattresses, always softer than the hard wood, allow the body to sink into them. Now the pillows must conform to the body and the mattress. There is only one shape that conforms on both sides; round.

This is a true story of determination, persistence and a desire to help.
Poor Sleep, Headaches, and Neck Pain, Judy had it all.
For over 15 years she suffered until she had to make a pillow to solve her problem.
Her neck problem was getting worse each morning. She woke with stiff neck and bad headaches each morning and took drugs to relieve the pain so she could get a Chiropractic treatment which relieved it every day. She was trying all available pillows but none worked and many made the pains worse. This limited our travels as she had to see any chiropractor wherever she went. Finally the drugs got so heavy that a pharmacist asked me ”How long does she have to live?’ I did not fill that prescription.
She told her chiropractor who stressed it has to be the pillows and for her to make her own. She started making a roll design as all MD and DC stressed to relieve neck pain “roll up a towel and place behind the neck for sleeping.”
After solving her problem, others wanted help with their problem so she started making pillows that worked wonders for them and many gave written testimonials.
Over many years, since 1993 Judy and her husband developed 5 sizes that fit and supported different body structures in different sleep positions.

Sleep: The Purpose, The Reason, and How to get it.
The purpose of sleep and why we sleep has been discovered many times over by researchers in many fields but none overlap their fields to put the studies together. It took about 15 years of research into sleep, pillows, electronics, blood flow, chiropractics, massage therapy, brain basics and several other health fields to understand that sleep is very necessary to our health and why. Sleep is a basic necessity to life.
As one researcher concluded “lack of sleep did not kill the animals because they all died from organ failure”.
Looking at the research we see that without sleep we will die of organ failure because we are human animals. Therefore sleep must have a healing affect on our body organs. Without sleep our organs start shutting down and we develop an illness; get sick. If you check with many people who don’t sleep well you will find they are often sick and/or on medical drugs.
Many current studies are indicating that without sleep we feel and act as if drugged or drunk. Studying the body structure and spine through studies by MDs, Chiropractics and massage therapy we see how the body works. Brain studies indicated that the brain produced the chemicals to heal the body. It also stated that the brain uses 20% of our total blood flow and uses 50% of the Oxygen in the blood. This research gave me insight into another cause of high blood pressure. Muscle research indicates that the neck muscles if under stress tighten around the arteries restricting the blood flow to the brain.
Other research into how our spine works indicates that all electrical communication to and from the brain goes through the neck area and spinal column. In brain research we find that the brain controls all body functions, muscles, nerves and even gives us the energy required for movement. The brain absorbs and uses over 400,000, 000 bits of information per second, per minute, per hour, per day every day. When would the brain have time to heal our body if it is working at capacity while awake? If we can reduce the intake maybe the brain can spend some energy healing us?
Studies in many health fields indicate that the body heals itself and during sleep is the only time the energy is available.
The purpose of sleep is to keep the body healthy!
During sleep over 50% of the input signals are stopped freeing up the energy required to heal our body. During sleep the body fights infections, heals, rejuvenates and defrags the electrical information, freeing up storage space for the next day. Sleep allows the brain time and energy to heal our bodies. Any restriction of energy or blood flow, to or from the brain during this period would stop or reduce the healing from the brain.
This is where a pillow enters the sleep picture.
There are two ways a restriction can affect the brain; blood flow and electrical energy flow. The neck muscles must be relaxed for good blood flow and the neck vertebra must be open allowing the free flow of electrons to and from the brain.

Sleep: a basic necessity of life
A researcher proved this in a round about way as he/she was trying to prove lack of sleep won't kill you.
He kept animals awake until they died, then autopsied them. His results stated:
"Another rare disorder, Fatal Familial Insomnia (FFI), is an autosomal dominate disease that is invariably fatal after 6-30 months without sleep. FFI is probably misnamed because Death resulted from multiple organ failure rather than sleep deprivation."
If by withholding sleep, death resulted from organ failure, then sleep is necessary for the health of our organs without which we die! We are human animals.
This research proved most of my observations on sleep over the last 15 years.
Sleep is most important for our health and affects all our every day activities.
From our health, family problems, work problems and how we deal with living, all are affected by how well we sleep not by how long.
